The COAG Energy Council meets as needed, but meets a minimum of twice a year, as required of all COAG councils.
The agenda for each meeting reflects the relevant priorities and challenges at that time, but generally involves opportunities for stakeholder contribution to the Council's deliberations. Officials also progress issues and consult with stakeholders out of session.
Normally, Council meeting dates and agendas are not made publicly available prior to a meeting. However, Council decisions are made public through meeting communiques, which record the outcomes of the meeting and are released following each meeting, and Council bulletins, both of which are available on the Council website.
